Philanthropic Education Projects

The Saint Clement of Alexandria Philanthropic Education Centre, was established on the spacious grounds of the headquarters of the Orthodox Archbishopric of Kenya in 2001. His Eminence Metropolitan Makarios of Kenya, and the late Patriarch of Alexandria His Beatitude Pope Petros VII, gave their blessings for this project.

The bulk of the initial funding came from Orthodox friends in Australia.

Its general aim is to provide educational opportunities, occupational skills, and technological facilities, to those who were unable -  because of poverty - to have access to educational institutions.

Its spiritual aim is to witness the love of God, through the missionary work of the Orthodox Church in Kenya, to those crippled by poverty.

The first occupational facility to be created was the Tailoring School in November 2001. This was followed by the Computer School in 2002, and the Orphan School in September 2002.  In January 2003, after two years of preparation, the Orthodox Teachers College of Africa was inaugurated.
